MEANING: This is a mini version of Coop's wood carved Celtic Wolf. It is an ancient variation of the Triquetra that invokes the nobility and free spirit of the Wolf.

For those looking for the ancient Celtic totem of Wolf (Madadh-alluidh), Wolf is an intelligent creature, capable of out thinking hunters. It can teach you how to read the signs of Nature in everything, how to pass by danger invisibly, how to outwit those who wish you harm, and how to fight when needed. Sometimes the world, seen on a journey, will lead you to a spiritual teacher and guide.

The Native American Animal Spirit Wolf is Teacher. Wolf is the pathfinder, the forerunner of new ideas who returns to the clan to teach and share medicine. Wolf takes one mate for life and is loyal like Dog. If you keep company with Wolves, you would find an enormous sense of family within the pack, as well as a strong individualistic urge. These qualities make Wolf very much like the human race. As humans we also have an ability to be a part of society and yet still embody our individual dreams and Ideas. The senses of Wolf are very keen, and the Moon is its power ally. The Moon is the symbol for psychic energy or the unconscious that holds the secrets of knowledge and wisdom. Baying at Moon indicates Wolf’s desire to connect with new ideas which are just below the surface of consciousness.

We can also add a screw eye and linen string to display this piece. If you would rather not have the screw eye to hang it from, please let us know.

There are pictures with both sizes shown so you can see the difference...this listing is for the wee one!

THE WOOD CARVING:
My Carvings are single pieces of western red cedar, designed and carved to be wall hangings. Each piece is finished with a blend of clear oils that brings out the natural color of the wood. For more information on the process of creation, please see my profile.

SIZE:
The last picture has the piece on a quilting board, lined up on the 1 inch marks. So subtract 1 inch from the height and width for the stock size. Measurements may vary slightly from piece to piece.

The pictures you see here are stock photos. What you get will depend on what we have in stock. If there are no others in stock, the time to shipping will be increased. If you desire and request something (for example) dark, we will pull the darkest board we have, but it will not necessarily be as dark as (for example) walnut would be. Western Red Cedar is the species from which roofing shingles, decks, and gazeboes have traditionally been made. It is resistant to mold, moisture, and insects. The oiling process also helps to block out damaging UV rays of the sun, so our carvings can be hung outdoors. Please be aware, that even with the oiling, the carving will eventually gray out, as any cedar will, if it is placed in direct sunlight.

SIZE OF THE CARVINGS: The stock carvings are limited by the size of the board that starts the carving process. As the initial piece is 1 in. x 12 in., (in reality 3/4 in. x 11-3/4 in.) one side of the carving will be no greater then approximately 11-1/2 in.
