Greeting Cards created from photos of wood carvings by Signs of Spirit.  Pictures are taken of the carving and manipulated in Photoshop. Some are then layered on a background of a photo or sketch enhancing the meaning of the wood carving.  The back of the card has the meaning of the knot, leaving the inside blank for you to use.

The card is printed on a 7 X 10 inch (folds to 7 X 5) A7 card of 60lb. Red River Paper Canvas. Paper canvas offers the texture of canvas media and the flexible use of a paper stock. You will get card and envelope inside of a cellophane sleeve.

The pictures here have watermarks…they won’t be on your card.

This makes a wonderful gift for Mother's day, or a gesture of thankfulness and gratitude to anyone who has given you support and encouragement. Celebrate Mom!

The background is from a sketch by Katrina.  It evokes a time of bonding, holding hands and exploring nature; a peaceful time to just be together.

The wood carving expresses the Protective, Nurturing, and Unconditional Nature of a Mother’s Love.

From Katrina: When Coop and I were first together, I was learning the meanings of his carvings and was surprised he had nothing representing the relationship of Mother and Child. I had seen a sculpture in a New Age store (cannot remember the artist unfortunately) but it was a woman sitting cross-legged with a child in her lap. While at the North Texas Irish Festival, I picked up a business card that had this symbol atop a circle. I immediately saw the mother holding her child in her lap. I excitedly insisted Coop carve this...and he did. What he saw while carving was the child within the womb of the mother. It just goes to show you the meaning of the knot is in the eye of the beholder! In trying to promote on-line business, I began a "What We Do" board on Pinterest. The Mother and Child Knot when viral! was 98% tattoo boards! Time passes and we do get a few more orders before Mother's Day, so I'm happy. Then one day at Scarborough Renaissance Faire a woman comes up to Cooper, shows him her tattoo (it happens ALL the time!), that she found on Pinterest and asks if he can do it! He gleefully runs to the display and brings it to her, and she realizes it was the picture of our wood carving she had used! Ha! Everything comes back around! Now days, you don't find our picture of the Mother and Child knot on Pinterest as much, it is more pictures of tattoos...of our wood carving... And now, I'm finding Jewelers that have started doing this too...which is great because I had a bunch of inquiries if we could do it out of gold or silver...Damnit Jim, we're wood carvers, not goldsmiths!

The pictures you see here are stock photos. What you get will depend on what we have in stock. If there are no others in stock, the time to shipping will be increased. If you desire and request something (for example) dark, we will pull the darkest board we have, but it will not necessarily be as dark as (for example) walnut would be. Western Red Cedar is the species from which roofing shingles, decks, and gazeboes have traditionally been made. It is resistant to mold, moisture, and insects. The oiling process also helps to block out damaging UV rays of the sun, so our carvings can be hung outdoors. Please be aware, that even with the oiling, the carving will eventually gray out, as any cedar will, if it is placed in direct sunlight.

SIZE OF THE CARVINGS: The stock carvings are limited by the size of the board that starts the carving process. As the initial piece is 1 in. x 12 in., (in reality 3/4 in. x 11-3/4 in.) one side of the carving will be no greater then approximately 11-1/2 in.
