MEANING: Here is a wonderful carving of a Treble Clef and a Bass Clef embraced within a Heart shape, because doesn’t music fill one’s heart?
Musical notation began around 900 AD, when songs became too difficult to memorize. At that time, songs were written in keys, or clefs, of C and F and later G. F Clef became our Base Clef; C Clef is our modern C Clef and the G Clef is now known as the Treble Clef.
While Coop has done some custom orders for the bass clef, we don’t do it as a stock item because we have to modify the two dots that are supposed to float…we don’t do floaters well…but having both the Treble and Bass Clef encircled with a heart shape allows us to attach the 2 dots to the edge of the heart.
If you know someone who’s passionate heart is filled with music, this may be the symbol for them.
THE CARVING: Our carvings are single pieces of western red cedar, designed and carved to be wall hangings. Each piece is finished with a blend of clear oils that brings out the natural color of the wood. For more information on the process of creation, please see my profile.
SIZE: One picture has the piece on a quilting board, lined up on the 1 inch marks. So subtract 1 inch from the height and width for the stock size. Measurements may vary slightly from piece to piece but it is approximately 10.5 inches tall by 10 inches wide.
